Essay

The object of study – the person, vital way of the M.O. Maksymeiko, an outstanding public figure, pedagogue and scientist of the end ХІХ – the first half of ХХ century. The purpose of study is to define the contribution of public, educational and scientific activity of the M.O. Maksymeiko in public development of Ukraine. The methods: problem-chronological, historical-comparative, personalization. The practical value of the work: the materials, basic ideas, estimations and conclusions of work can be used for a spelling of the Ukrainian biographic dictionary, generalizing scientific works, devoted history of Ukraine of the end ХІХ – the middle of XX century, drawing up of lecture courses on a history of culture and education of Ukraine, history of historical and legal study sciences. The dissertation is devoted to the M.O. Maksymeiko, an outstanding Ukrainian legal scholar, pedagogue, scientist and public figure (1870-1941). In work the analysis of the historiography of a problem and its archival base is given. The basic stages of a vital way of the M.O. Maksymeiko are selected. In the dissertation the special attention of pedagogical and public activity of the scientist at the Kharkiv University, to which he has devoted more than twenty years (1897-1918), is given. The complex of the reasons, which have played the important role in formation of outlook and foundation of a civil position of the M.O. Maksymeiko, is determined. Pedagogical sights of the scientist for the first time are analyzed. The basic directions of scientific researches of the M.O. Maksymeiko are specified. The technique of researches of the scientist is determined. The importance of the M.O. Maksymeiko in cultural-educational and scientific development of Ukraine is shown.
