Shyrchenko Y. Structural and Functional Features of Press for Children of the Period of Independence of Ukraine

Complex research of structural and functional features of children's press of Ukraine of period 1991 - 2007 was done. There was defined the system of creating of the type factors of the periodic media for children. The typological classification of children's newspapers and magazines was proposed and analyzed. It is based on such types of children's mass-media as cognitive, entertaining, educational, cultural, religious, popular scientific periodicals, and also media published for the reading with parents, for the studying of foreign languages, and book and magazines series. Children's expectations were studied, and the thematic content of children's press was found out. Practical recommendations considering improving the printed media for children were developed
