Essay

This is the first exhaustive study of contemporary Ukrainian religious press, cover-ing the period of the years 1991-2000. The dissertation highlights the theoretical and methodological sources of religious periodicals of Ukraine. It analyzes the foundation and development of this periodicals tak-ing into consideration the history of Ukrainian journalism. This segment of press has been classified according to the suggested typology of contemporary religious periodicals (fol-lowing the religious denominations - Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Roman Catholic Church, Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Ky-ivan Patriarchate, Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate). Around 20 reli-gious periodicals have been subject to topical analysis.
