Essay

Thesis focuses on actual tissues of genetics and occupational health - the determining of the genetic markers of susceptibility to development of coal workers' pneumoconiosis (CWP) with the view of prognosing the risk of the development of disease in workers exposed to coal dust. The considerable role of genetic factors was proven in development of CWP. The GSTT1(-/-);GSTM1(+);TNF-alfa-308*G/A genotype is associated with the risk of CWP, while the GSTT1(-/-);GSTM1(-/-) and GSTT1(-/-);GSTM1(-/-);TNF-alfa-308*G/G genotypes are biomarkers of resistance to CWP in this sample. The method of prognosing of the risk in the development of CWP has been suggested on the bases of the obtained data.
