The thesis considers comprehensively the prereguisites of joining Western Ukrainian lands to the USSR, methods of establishing the soviet totalitarian system, policy of Bolshevik regime in economic, cultural and social spheres, the reaction of local population to implementing innovations. The state is analysed of various strata of Western Ukrainian population, the influence of Soviet commanding system of power on creating the attitude of the public concerning the soviet power.
