Zanik Y. The genesis of Ukrainian national elite in the historical dimension (the second half of the XIX century - 1914)

On basis of documents and materials' analysis the features of Ukrainian national elite's origin are studied, specificity of its activity in the process of state organization is illustrated. In particular the theoretical foundations of the problem that characterize national elite as socially significant stratum of the best representatives of community, who in the process of their activity determine the value orientation of the certain society (Ukrainian population subject to Russia) in the certain historical epoch (the epoch of modernization) are generalized. The elite's influence on modification of the Ukrainian people's spirituality is investigated, in the process of which elite has promoted the forming of new cultural wealth and new social thinking. The role of economic elite in solution of the social problems is analyzed. The author notes, that economic elite actively helped to poor groups of the population, initiated the possibility of cultural and educational level's rise by the broad masses. The reasons and features of political activity of Ukrainian national elite are substantiated.
