Essay

The thesis presents the first systematic research of T. Nowak's prose works in Ukrainian literary studies. The mythological analysis based on the theoretical conceptions of J. Frazer, C.-G. Jung, J. Campbell, M. Eliade, E. Fromm, E. Cassirer, E. Meletyncki, N. Frye, and others, defines the methodological approach to text interpretation. The research emphasizes the complicated and versatile nature of mythopoetic structure of the writer's prose. The research demonstrates the peculiarities of author's interpretation of such mythological motives as searching for Paradise (myth of Paradise), and opposition Life-Death-Resurrection. The phenomenon of pagan-Christian syncretism has been high-lighted as the poet's basic feature of the world perception. Having examined the components of many-sided mythological imagery of Nowak's prose, one has enough evidence to classify the author's vision of the world as mythopoetic one. The specificity of mythological vision of polish writer has been analyzed in the context of modern literature.
