Chumak M. Merchantry as a factor of industrial development of the Left-bank Ukraine (60-th years of XIX century - 1914 year)

Based on analysis of documents and materials in the dissertation deals with the problem of merchantry as a factor of industrial development of Left-bank of Ukraine in 60-th years of XIX century - 1914 year. There was made one of the first comprehensive attempt to research the merchantry's participating in economic life of the country. The author considered the legal status of merchantry and their socio-ethnic composition within the investigated area. The transition of the merchants capital of trade to production was reflecting, which allowed representatives of merchants is among the first involved in the development of progressive forms of industrial production. The priority for most merchants industry ascertained, the degree of participation of merchants in the thesis outlined in production analyzed. It is shown that the merchantry in the main industrial activity rate was targeting the latest equipment and cooperation with academic circles. On the basis of the study reasonably lead merchantry in the development industry, their active participation in public life, socio-cultural field, philanthropy.
