Essay

The dissertation is devoted to ukrainian towel. Ukrainian towel as the original artistic phenomenon in the history of Ukrainian artistic culture has been investigated in this thesis. On the basis of historic samples from museums and private collections, archeological and ethnographical researches, written sources, Ukrainian towel was introduced as a polyfunctional work of artistic culture in syncretic folk unity. Ukrainian towel is considered to be a kind of decorative and applied art and according to it form and special features main functions were determined. The composition structure of embroidery is subjected to through analysis.
