The thesis deals with the analysis of the problem of school leadership development in The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The development of school leadership in Great Britain is described as the dynamic process, aimed at the development of public school as a learning community, which is characterised with the determined goals, priorities and values, common vision of its development strategy, taking into account individual interests and social demands, high level of collegiality and culture in order to supply the society with high quality educational services. Among the main trends of school leadership development there are centralisation and decentralisation of educational management, that caused the development of school leadership and teachers' participation in the process of education reforming; financing of school education which is understood as the investment in the society development; increasing of school self-government; upgrading of public school standards which demands the advancement of teachers' professionalism; the development of school leaders' training programmes and their cooperation in the international educational space.
