Dissertation is devoted to research of Poltava battle (1709), it's course and influence on Ukrainian history. The author researches the historical conditions of Russian-Swedish opposition and situation in Ukraine before the Poltava battle, analyzes strategy of Charles XII, hetman I. Mazepa and Peter I, investigates its strong and weak features. Military actions are depicted in the research work, especially quality and quantity of Russian, Swedish and Ukrainian armies. The author analyzes Poltava battle, determines factors, which influenced on the results of the battle. The reasearch work analyzes the main political consequences of the Poltava battle 1709, changes in Peter I policy, its influence on political consciousness in Ukraine, the influence of Poltava battle on changes in Peter's policy in Ukrainian economy and their importance for Ukraine.
