Essay

The thesis is devoted to the investigation of genre intercorrelation and mutual enrichment, which are the main tendencies of press genre theory evolution. The modern approaches to genres typology, criteria, the most recent genre examples are analysed. Constant and changeable genre elements, which correspond to the objective criteria and author's subjective cognitive potential, have been determined. The definition of the notion "genre intercorrelation" has been given. The main tendencies, external and internal factors, which influence genre-forming processes, are defined. The monitoring of the frequency of 12 genres usage in the press has been done, and it has been proven that the print media genre structure is distributed unevenly. The genre innovations, named combined genres, which appeared as a result of intercorrelation processes, have been characterized.
