Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the investigation of the land community - landowning and economic peasant union in the pre-kolgosp Ukrainian village. The organization and activity of land communities in Kharkiv region is for the first time a dissertation subject in Ukrainian science. The author has analyzed the connection and interaction between the land community and the peasant homestead - the last being the basic cell of the land community. It has been proved in the dissertation that the land community had used to be a co-operative farming organization with great potential means for the agricultural progress. Much attention has also been paid to the process of the elimination of land communities by the Bolsheviks.
