Essay

There has been investigated a role and a meaning of the UNESCO archives portal as an international archive information system which is called for an accom-plishment of archive matter development function, and document handling in a con-text of the UNESCO functions and tasks in the context of the expansion of knowledge and information exchange in science, culture and education. There have been considered basic principles, functions and steps of the UNESCO development, priorities changes in its activity at the time of the informa-tional community and the science community; the activity of the National Commis-sion of Ukraine in the affairs of the UNESCO organization and its Web-resources. There have been illuminated the UNESCO programs in creating and development of web-portal as a net resource, information-bibliographic and documental resources which were produced by UNESCO, and have been accumulated in its library, and ar-chives in the form of the Web-resource; informational structure, composition and contents of the UNESCO archive portal, types, complexes, groups and kinds of elec-tronic resources as basis for the construction of the portal connected with assignments and directions of the UNESCO activity, in order to designate the role of UNESCO in the development of international basis of archives activity. There has been explained the contents of the UNESCO archive portal as a multi-aspects resource in the context of the UNESCO activity in the sphere of ar-chives, which reveals its fundamental role in archives activity and archive science at all, as well as an important component of international resources of archives institu-tions and virtual archives, a newly integrated information resources.
