Verkhovsky N. Attitudes toward the death penalty as part of the professional consciousness of lawyers

The subject of research is a professional consciousness of lawyers. The purpose of the research is to define peculiarities of attitude of lawyers to legal institution of death penalty and its influence on formation of professional consciousness. Methods of research are general scientific, ones of juridical-psychological researches and of mathematical statistics. Definition of main types of direction of professional consciousness of lawyers is a scientific novelty. Comprehensive content of psychological-legal concept of "guidelines of professional consciousness" is determined; psychological-legal definition of psychological harms (psychological injury) which can be a result of juridical relations is provided: "nomogenia" (Greek: nomos - law + gennao - breeds) and others. Practical importance: designed and tested as follows: psychognostic procedure for study of guideline formation peculiarities of professional consciousness and program of professional-psychological training that facilitates formation of empathetic attitude of lawyers to victims and others. Subject and degree of implementation: results of the research are applied in: practice in State penitentiary Department and in academic activity of the Kyiv National University of Internal Affairs. Efficiency of implementation: Acts of implementation bear out positive assessment of application of research results. Sphere of appliance is law enforcement and academic activity as to formation of professional consciousness of lawyers.
