The object of the investigation is selection of source selective material of winter wheat according to high-yielding properties and grain quality in the forest-steppe Left Bank Ukraine. The aim of the investigation is establishing regularities of manifestation and changeability of productivity peculiarities and grain quality of winter wheat sorts and picking out sources according to farming valuable characteristics for selecting the given crop in the forest-steppe Left Bank Ukraine. Methods – field, laboratory, selective, statistical. Results: The best sorts which are valuable source material for selecting winter wheat according to productivity and grain quality indices (protein content and gluten, bread baking evaluation) are identified and they are offered for using. Novelty – regularities of manifestation and changeability of farming valuable characteristics of productivity, structure elements of plants and grain quality of winter wheat sorts of different geographical origin are established for the first time in the forest-steppe Left Bank Ukraine. Favorable for selecting source material correlations between quantitative and qualitative characteristics are established. Winter wheat sorts are grouped according to complex of farming valuable characteristics. 20 perspective winter wheat sorts with high level of productivity and grain quality are used in selective programs of Scientifically–Research Institute of Agronomy of Poltava State Agrarian Academy, Plant Production Institute named after V.Ya.Yuryev of UAAS and Ustymivka Experimental Plant Production Station for creating new source material.
