Serdenko B. Blunt thoracic trauma in children. Clinics, diagnosis, treatment

The thesis is devoted to diagnosis and treatment of blunt thoracic trauma in children. In paper was described semiotics of the damage of the trachea and bronchi, lungs, diaphragm and chest wall. The possible causes of diagnostic errors and diagnostic value of different diagnostic methods (radiological, endoscopic, laboratory and other) were studied. Systemized approach to the selection of conservative and surgical treatment. Indications for low-invasive interventions and thoracotomy were made. The own methods of treatment were offered. Reconstructive surgery lets to achieve the restoration of anatomic integrity and full functionality traheobronchial tree, and provides faster and more sustained effect then conservative therapy. Resection appears to be indicated only in the case of the development of confirmed irreversible morphological changes. Early radical intervention can prevent possible loss of lung parenchyma.
