Shebelist S. The Specificity of the Ukrainian Essay Writing Development in the System of Journalistic Genres

There is the complex research of the modern Ukrainian essay writing in the system of journalistic genres based on the local press of 1990-2000 and essay writing of leading publicists (Y. Andrukhovych, O. Zabuzhko, M. Riabchuk etc) in this manuscript. It is investigated the peculiarities of the Ukrainian essay writing development in the system of journalistic genres; discovered the genesis of the essay as a genre, its specificity, genre subdivisions and structure; found out the reasons which caused the rise and popularity of the essay in the Ukrainian literature and journalism; characterized the essayistic method of reflecting reality and the functions of the essay; analyzed the problematic aspects of the Ukrainian essay writing; compared the Ukrainian essay writing with world journalism; reviewed scientific material about the essay as a genre and the Ukrainian essay writing in particular. It is interpreted specificity of the essay writing of Y. Andrukhovych, O. Zabuzhko and M. Riabchuk; showed the verification of their texts, dedicated to different questions; analyzed postmodern features; discovered linguistic and stylistic peculiarities, intertextuality in the essay writing.
