Gladkykh V. Muscle and intramuscular veins structure of the lower leg in patients with chronic venous insufficiency and in norm

Object – structural changes in vessels of microcirculatory bed and muscles of the lower leg; purpose – to estimate peculiarities of structure of microcirculatory bed, intramuscular veins, muscular component of muscle-venous pump of the lower leg taking into consideration age-related changes, sex and degree of chronic venous insufficiency; methods – microscopic, morphometric, electron microscopic, mathematical; the results – morphological estimation of a condition of intramuscular veins of gastrocnemius muscle, microcirculatory stream and their changes taking into consideration age-related changes, sex and degree of chronic venous insufficiency is given; results of ascertaining investigation phase have allowed revealing change in structural components of muscular-venous pump of the lower leg which was characterized by progressive increase in a lumen diameter and thinner venular walls of gastrocnemius muscle, compensatory hypertrophy of a muscular tunic with elastic fibers hyperplasia and formation of internal elastic membrane within intramuscular veins with a small caliber in different age groups; branch – medicine.
