Lytskyj Y. Ukrainian Tourist-local Lore Movement in Galychyna (30th XIX century-30th XX century)

The dissertation deals with the sources, origin, formation and development of tourist-local lore movement, as a component of a political and cultural life of the Ukrainian population of Galychyna. In the dissertation the basic stages of the development of tourist-local lore movement are determined and characterized, the historical-educational activity of the Ukrainian circles and organizations, tourist and sports youth societies is analysed, found out their role and place in the process of national-cultural revival of Galychyna. It contains the analysis of local lore wanderings, the study of local lore campaigns of well-known Galitsian political figures. The dissertation shows how the tourist movement, cultural-educational and physical-health-improving ideas were widely used for formation of a spiritual-moral, harmonious person. It has been proved, that tourism became one of the forms of Galitsian enlightenment, attraction of youth to the process of national-cultural revival, which tempered them morally and physically and prepared them for national-liberation struggle.
