Essay

In the thesis the process of post-graduate education of foreign language teachers is analyzed. The essence and correlation of the notions of "competence" and "methodic competence of a foreign language teacher in primary school" are specified. The peculiarities of the structure of this competence and its correlation with a foreign language teacher's readiness for educational activity in primary school are revealed, criteria and level indices of methodical competence and its separate components (cognitive, technological, personal-motivational) are defined. It is for the first time that a model of improvement of methodical competence of foreign language teachers working in primary school in the conditions of scientific methodical work has been created and given ground, organizational and pedagogical conditions of its functioning in the system of post-graduate pedagogical education have been defined.
