Essay

Identified and characterized the main directions of historical and educational research of V. Z. Smal: studying the history of the formation and development of educational thought in the Ukraine in the XIX-XX centuries.; research in the field of comparative pedagogy, which opens the experience of organizing the educational process abroad, study life's journey and the creative heritage of outstanding teachers. Determined and disclosed the contents of educational and pedagogical activities of the scientist, namely: a study of problems of higher education, organization and methodical work, preparation of scientific-pedagogical personnel, improvement of the theoretical and methodological level of presentation of pedagogical disciplines, improving research and independent work of students, organizing and implementing educational practices.
