Kitov D. Dnepr as a phenomenon of ethnic culture and traditional outlook in the context of Ukrainian studies

Dissertation is devoted on the research of the influence on the formation of the Dnieper ethnic culture and traditional outlook population Dnieper Ukraine from ancient times to the end of the 18th century. This work based on the sources and achievements of Ukrainian and foreign science the peculiarities of the formation of an Ukrainian expressions of attitude toward the great river, depth knowledge of the cult value of water, old customs, rituals and beliefs of the population of Dnieper Ukraine. Dissertator substantiated the sacredness of the Dnipro river images for Zaporozh's epoch Ukrainians. Having analyzed Ukrainian history on the matter of presence of cultural patterns formed by the Dnipro river the author makes conclusion, that Dnieper as an archetypical feature refers to the Ukrainian ethnic culture.
