Essay

In the dissertation on the basis of analysis of wide range of sources the establishing and evolution of German colonies in the Northern Left-bank of Ukraine in the second half of 18th century - first half of 19th century was discovered. The government and self-government systems, the peculiarities of judicial system and colonists' behaviour, their relationships with autochthonic population, colonists' religious belonging, educational specific were discovered. It was shown that colonists brought in quite diverse European experience of management. Bilovezhian colonies were based on adapting of German agriculture to the conditions of Northern Left-bank of Ukraine.
