Essay

The author denies the commonly used in soviet historiography estimation of the church as an absolute reactional organization. The forms and character of public organizations' activity with the participation of priesthood are found out. It is noticed that social movement of the priesthood from 1905 to 1917 identified its significant ways of cultural influence and led to the increase of cultural - educational level of the population by means of schools and libraries foundation, conducting of lectures and readings of educational nature, broadening of economical development of industries by means of foundation of agricultural cooperations, parish fraternities and guardianships.
