The Thesis examines the activities of local history societies in Volyn province during the interwar period. The main directions of their work, specifically, museum, monuments protection, editorial, tourist and work with youths people were distinguished. Formation stages and organization grounds were investigated; programme principles and structure of local history societies were characterized.
