Essay

It is proved that pregnancy causes a systemic reaction in diffuse lymphatic tissue of the uterus which is shown in phase changes of immunocompetent cells density. The most noticeable changes take place at the end of the second period of pregnancy and become apparent in the reliable growth of the density of small, medium and large lymphocytes, plasmocytes and macrophages in the decidual endometrium of uterine horns. During physiological pregnancy the relative areas of structural components of iliac lymph nodes which are regional for the uterus fluctuate. Noticeable changes at the end of the second period of pregnancy are also observed in the reliable increase of the relative area of lymphoid nodules, central medulla and intermediate medullary lymphatic sinuses and in the reduction of the relative area of paracortical layer. In the course of physiological pregnancy the density of lymphoid cells in the structural components of iliac lymph nodes is proved to undergo phase changes and reach its maximum density at the end of the first period of pregnancy. The introduction of the antigen to pregnant white female rats at the reproductive age (7 days after conception) causes phase changes of immunocompetent cells in diffuse lymphatic tissue of the decidual endometrium of uterine horns as well as in the structural components of iliac lymph nodes. The most noticeable changes take place seven days after the antigen introduction, i.e. after 14 days of pregnancy.
