In this thesis on the basis of a great amount of arhives files and printed matters have been discovered the social - political, social - economic, social - cultural problems, which accompanied the process of the foundation and activities of Ukrainian Higher Pedagogical Institute after M.Dragomanov in the Prague. Historical premises and reasons of its foundation, the main directions, forms and methods of organizing educational process, professors' and students' activity have been researched.The results and consequences of the work of UHPI and the reasons for completing its activities have been analysed.
