Melko K. Typology of reflective devices of human's ideas in postmodern discourse (based on the material of English and Ukrainian languages)

The thesis outlines a new approach to contrastive and typological study of synaesthesia in English and Ukrainian postmodern discourse. The theoretical and methodological fundamentals for the study of synaesthesia in Modern Linguistic were generalized; the peculiarities of postmodern synaesthesia were characterized; a new methodology for contrasting analysis of synaesthesia was introduced; postmodern metabola as means of synaesthetic mapping in English and Ukrainian postmodern discourse was analyzed; stylistic (synaesthetic metaphor, synaesthetic epithet, synaesthetic simile, synaesthetic oxymoron) and lexico-semantic (sensorial lexemes) reflective devices of synaesthsia were identified; the common and divergent types of synaesthetic human's ideas were determined.
