Essay

The dissertation is devoted to study of peculiarities of human perception of emotionally significant stimuli according to registration and analysis of the evoked potentials (EP). It is established that emotional significance of the stimulus has an influence upon all the phases of visual information perception. It is shown that perception of emotionally positive and negative stimuli is characterized by similar manifestation in EP parameters, but activation effects are more strongly pronounced in conditions of emotionally negative stimulation. A complicated temporal dynamic of EP parameters topographic distribution is revealed, what is evidence that both of cerebral hemispheres participate in different phases of affective stimuli processing. It is also found out that human individual personal traits to a great extent determine the peculiarities of perception of emotionally coloured, especially negative, stimuli. Idea about features of emotional stimuli perception by persons of different sex is extended. Women has demonstrated higher velocity of affective stimuli processing as compared with men, what is manifested in earlier rise of components amplitude peak. Assumption that processes of emotions recognition and evaluation of stimuli significance in women pass faster and more efficiently than in men is suggested.
