Essay

Dissertation work is dedicated to describing the processes of filtration through a granular media with a declining rate. Im-proved mathematical model of filtration, is applicable to cases of both the constant and declining rate. The model allows to: calculate filters with different particle size distribution on bed depth; take into account the change of kinetic coefficients on bed depth, and obtain the dynamics of filtration on the filtrate quality, filtration rate, water levels and head-loss in filter, to determine the duration of bed protective action and time to achieve limit head-losses and maximum water level in the filter. Obtained describe the filtering process was studied on the basis of numerical experiments and also in laboratory conditions. Designed and tested method of determining the kinetic coeffi-cients by comparing the experimental data with results of nu-merical calculation. Based on the obtained solutions are devel-oped "Recommendations for the use of mathematical models to calculate the rapid water treatment filters".
