The dissertation scientifically substantiates constructive and technological parameters of reagent water softening by using liming on expanded polystyrene filters with increasing layer of suspended sediment in conditions of reduced temperatures of surface water. Equations were obtained for determinationof the optimal pH value for removal of calcium and magnesium ions, lime dose and the total hardness concentration in a filtrate.
