Essay

Dissertation is a complex investigation of translation of modern Italian religious texts into Ukrainian in the context of religious discourse. Linguistic and cultural aspects of translation, caused by discrepancies in Italian and Ukrainian cultures and by peculiarities of Ukrainian Catholicism, are determined. Peculiarities of reproduction of religious concepts are studied. Prescriptive position of the Church towards translation is examined. Hermeneutic approach towards translation of modern religious texts is outlined. Validity of marking out translation of religious texts as a particular type of translation is grounded.
