Essay

The dissertation is devoted to exploring mutual relations of cultural, educational, and scientific intelligentsia of Podillya with power in 1920s-1930s. Various aspects of mutual relations of intelligentsia with authorities of the region were synthetically studied in this work basing on the analysis of the archive and statistical sources, historiography, and scientific publications. The initiatives of the intellectual elite under the conditions of the increscent political leverage were analyzed. Conclusion about the evolution of the methods of authorities' influence on cultural, educational, and scientific intelligentsia ranging from reeducation to establishing tight control was drawn.
