Lapshyna O. Semantic category of similarity in the modern Russian language

Object – semantic category of similarity; purpose – study ways to implement a semantic category of similarity on word-formative level in the derivative nouns; methods – observation, describing, generalization, classification, derivational analysis, componential analysis, method of linguistic modeling, statistical analysis; novelty – criteria for differentiating between categories of similarity and comparison were established; derivational means of expressing similarity in the substantive derivatives of the Russian language were identified; the complex structural-semantic and functional analysis of derivational models in the sphere of derivative nouns with meaning of similarity was carried out; derivative substantives were analyzed according to original methods of functional analysis; results – the place of category of similarity in a circle of language categories was established; the content of category of similarity is specified, the plan of its expression is determined; the technique of functional analysis of derivatives with meaning of similarity was developed; derivational models of derivative nouns with meaning of similarity were identifying and their functional yield was defined; the reflection of logical scheme of comparison in derivative nouns was analyzed; functional and semantic features of the subject of comparison, the means of comparison, the basis and index of comparison are studied; branch – word-formation, functional grammar, lexicology.
