The complex analysis of educational social activity of Orthodox brotherhoods in Volyn' in the second half of XIX - beginning of the XX centuries has been carried out in the dissertation. The main theoretico-methodological principals of educational social activity of brotherhoods as a historical pedagogical phenomenon have been analyzed; the principal backgrounds (socio-political, historical, socio-cultural) and organizational characteristics of realization of brotherhoods' educational social activity in the period under investigation have been defined.
