Stukanova J. The cultural elite of Donbas in the period of 1953-1964 yy.

The dissertation is devoted to the research of the cultural elite of Donbas in the period of 1953-1964. The following peculiarities of the activity and development of the cultural elite representatives were revealed on the basis of the analysis of domestic and foreign scientific literature. Cultural processes in Donbas within the "Thaw period" were analyzed; the scale and peculiarities of the liberalization of artistic life were found out. Social functioning of art works and literature of the region was determined. Dynamics of quantitative and qualitative changes of the Union of Writers and Artists, Theatre groups and Donbas Philharmonic was pointed out; comparative analysis of the relevant indicators of the leading regional centers of Ukraine was done. Formation ways of the cultural elite of Donbas, the role of the purposeful state policy within these processes, relations with the representatives of the cultural elite towards Soviet regime. Material support and living conditions for working and culture activists' lives, factors affecting artists' choice between creativity and craftsmanship were highlighted. The anthropological portrait of the cultural elite representatives of Donbas was drawn.
