Essay

The thesis is a complex research of the repressive policies of the totalitarian regime against ethnic minorities in Odessa in 1934-1937. The legislavite and regulatory framework that facilitated the repression has been analyzed and the mechanism of their implementation has been studied. It has been emphasized that during the investigated period the government of the soviet state passed a number of laws which broadened and supplemented the criminal laws essentially. It has been ascertained that in the soviet society the atmosphere of distrust of political emigrants and those who had relatives abroad was created artificially. The forms and methods of punitive measures in the social strata of ethnic minorities have been revealed. It has been cleared up that numbers of spot-checks on "cleaning" the regime territories, during which people without passports and refugees had been arrested, became the characteristic features of the repressive activities of the authority in Odessa. The typikal charges, methods of investigation have been found out and the adoption of repressive solutions has been described. The mechanism of the fabrikacation of so-called counter-revolutionary organizations among ethnic minorities in Odessa has been analyzed.
