SVITLYK N. Personal and institutional contacts between the intellectuals of Galicia and Transcarpathia (1848 – 1918)

The cultural process in Transcarpathia and Galicia, have been characterized in the thesis, the mutual relations on the both sides of the Carpathians have been learned. Private communication between the intellegency of that time has been taken as the starting point of the investigation. The relations between separate institutions have been suggested on the basis of the analysis of the personal initiative of individual scholars. Cultural relations have been observed on the background of historical events; the role of the these relations for the development of local population and the stimulation of the process of the formation of the nation is underlined. Separate manifestations of collaboration have been analyzed in complex though from different ideological principles. The following questions have been studied in the dissertation: the exchange of the books and book-trade among the intelegency, cultural-cognitive and scientific trips, common cultural projects and achievements, the exchange of scientific experience.
