Essay

The dissertation presents a complex research in the peculiarities of implementation of philosophical and aesthetic principles of St.I. Witkiewicz's theory of "clear form" in his dramas and novels. The given research investigates the philosophic foundation of his theory - ontological pluralism and historico-philosophical catastrophism, as well as outlines the aesthetic nature of "clear form" stipulating the superiority of the form over the content. Witkacy's views, set forth in his numerous philosophical, aesthetic, publicistic and critical works, were implemented in dramas and novels by means of grotesque and parody which is noticeable at the level of contents and form, and moreover, the writer created his own theory of dramaturgy and theatre.
