Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the study of comparisons as forms of figurative speech, including systems of images of comparisons in the Russian spells and semantic structure of words by which they are expressed. The features of the image systems of spells' thematic groups are determined. Frequency of the use of comparisons' images is set. The originality of comparisons in spells is determined, first of all, by expansion (comparing with clich? comparisons) of base of comparisons' images and by the rational connotation of words that generate the images. The basic method of defining the sign of comparison is a clash of two meaning of a polysemantic word in one context.
