The research carried out systematic analysis of the formation and development of religious education in institutions of secondary education in Germany in 1945 - 2005 years in the context of social, political, social, organizational and pedagogical assumptions. Content of the religious education, its main forms and methods on the definite stages of its development is explained in the thesis. Recommendations for the use of the experience of religious education in the institutions of general secondary education of Federal Republic of Germany in a spiritual and moral education of Ukrainian pupils have been developed.
