Bashkatova O. Prefixal Convergence of Russian Verbs

The dissertation is devoted to the theoretical problems connected with identification of prefixal convergence in the field of Russian verbs. Prefixal convergence is presented as converging of lexically different units on a morphological basis, i.e. on the basis of identity or affinity of meaning of prefixes, and also joining of the same prefix to bases which differ in certain degree. We applied matrix approach to the description of types of prefixal convergence of Russian verbs that made it possible to allocate types of convergent relations between structural components in the sphere of prefixal verbal lexicon. Strong semantic informativity of prefix, its valency, and also the character of interaction of prefix semantics with motivating basis are considered to be the primary causes of convergent relations in the sphere of prefixal verbs. The register of synonymous and antonymous meanings of Russian verbal prefixes has been created.
