Essay

The concept of LOVE is not a strong structured volume unit; it has a multicomponent stratified construction which covers a broad cultural body. The content of LOVE consists of two parts: conceptual (fixed in lexicographical sources) and cultural-originated (partly fixed in dictionaries). The lexical explication of the lexeme “love” is implemented in the German and Ukrainian languages by six types of the meanings with differentiation into 20 semantic roles integrated into the subject, actional and comparative frames. The nominative field of “love” is presented by 230 lexemes devided into three microfields which overcross one another and fall into synonymic, antonymic and associative ones. The metaphorical component takes a significant place in the semantic field of the sememe “love”. The frame analysis confirms the existence of the stereotypical models of mentality and behavior of the German and Ukrainian native speakers. The gender features of the associatives and synonyms semantically objectify the existence of two types of the conceptosphere: the love of the woman and the love of the man.
