Atamanship as a social phenomenon of the Ukrainian revolution during the period of the Directory of 1918 - 1919s. Objective - the historical reconstruction of Atamanship as a phenomenon of the Ukrainian revolution during the period of the Directory of 1918 - 1919s. Methods - historical and comparative, historical and typological, prosopographical, biographical, dynamic. Results - atamanship is considered as a manifestation of deviant movement. Little-known personalities of atamans were analyzed. A new version of the typology of atamanship was worked out. Meaning of atamanship is considered on the process of Ukranian revolution the period of Directory. Influence of Simon Petlura on the development of atamanship was worked out.
