Pavlyuchenko S. The optimization of variety and seed control methods of cereal crops under the conditions of the South of Ukraine

Object: the standardization and certification of seed, harmonization of national standards with foreign analogies, optimization of measures of seed control. Aim: to optimize the measures of state and intrafarming seed control of cereal on the South of Ukraine. Methods: laboratory, field, laboratory and soil variety control, statistic. Novelty: the measures of variety and seed control, the requirements of standard documents for laboratory seed germination and determination of physical seed cleanliness of grain crops have been justified; the methods of evaluation of variety seed characteristics have been improved. Results: separate identification features of winter wheat varieties (the width, the length, the perimeter, the square and the circumference of grains) have been studied; seed control measures have been optimized. Different characteristics of the isolated winter wheat embryos by their morphotypes using in vitro culture techniques have been investigated for the first time. The measures of intrafarming seed control under the conditions of the south of Ukraine have been suggested, including field and laboratory control. The reaction of winter wheat seeds to the intensity of phenol staining has been studied. The obtained result shows that this characteristic can be used for variety certification, but in combination with other identification characteristics. Application stage: a new technique of field inspection of growing seed crops of cereals, which was harmonized with the ОEСD seed schemes, has been suggested and introduced. Application area: SIE of NAAN, MinAPK of Ukraine
