Essay

This dissertation is a comprehensive study of the political and public activities of Volodymyr Zahaikevych. The research is based on the extensive archival and published sources. The milestones of Zahailevych’s biography, such as his participation in the national-liberation struggle of 1914–1923, his organizational and political activities within the Ukrainan National Demoсratic Alliance, as well as his work as a journalist, an editor and a Member of Parliament have been researched, reconstructed and analyzed. This allowed to establish the role and importance of Volodymyr Zahaikevych in the public, political and cultural life of Western Ukraine in the end of the 19th and at the beginning of the 20th century.
