Glibovets V. Social and geographical aspects of the study of cities as centers of tourism (for example the Capital social-geographical district).

The category of "city" is investigated in the work. Its interpretation as a tourist destination is presented. Four types of urban tourist resources (cultural-historical, sacral, excursion-knowing, entertainment) and their subtypes were selected. Methodology and the comparative evaluation of tourist resources of Kyiv and other capitals of Europe and comparative description of their level of development of tourism infrastructure were developed and rating of a collective evaluation of tourist and recreational potential of the capitals of Europe were proposed. Comparison of Kyiv and other capitals of Europe based on point-rating evaluation, which includes the following items: geographical position, historical and cultural potential (historical conditions of capital status forming of the cities, historical and cultural potential of the capitals), the number of accommodation establishments, the number of entertainment facilities, the number of tourist organizations, which have offices abroad, the number of international airports, rail lines, highways and the presence of sea or river port.
