In the thesis the pedagogical ideas in the enlightening-educational activity (high meaningfulness of educational level of the Ukrainian people for the processes of the state creation; the necessity of protection and tolerant attitude to deprived people, patients and orphans, which suffered from the actions of police, court and officials; personalising of educator's influence on the basis of pedagogical help and support, address to the conscience and feelings of child; priority of child's personality in co-operation of educator and pupils etc.) and the literary work of I. P. Kotlyarevsky (the uniqueness of Ukrainian nation, its right on the "name, language, faith, appearance"; use of Ukrainian as means of national education; forming of civil consciousness as an integral attribute of a human, protection of his rights regardless of social position etc.) are discovered and systematized at a first time; the degree of scientific research of the problem is analysed; a position and a role of the pedagogue in the development of the Ukrainian pedagogical thought are determined. The social-pedagogical pre-conditions of forming and development of pedagogical ideas in the enlightening-educational activity and key factors of becoming of the pedagogical personality of I. P. Kotlyarevsky are found out. His main pedagogical ideas are exposed according to the theoretically grounded stages of becoming of the enlightening-educational activity (I (1789-1810) - searching-pedagogical, ІІ (1810-1818) - organisationally-pedagogical, ІІІ (1818-1827) - educational-upbringing, ІV (1827-1835) - pedagogical-summarizing). Basic directions of the enlightening-educational activity of the pedagogue are grounded: organizationally-office, ethnographic-research, artistically-literary (beginning of the literary work), organizational-upbringing, epistolary-research, creatively-pedagogical, literary-pedagogical, (bloom of the literary work), enlightening-educational, enlightening-guardian, tradition-investigational. Expedience of the development and usage of pedagogical ideas and experience of the pedagogue is proven; perspective directions of introducing of the main ideas of the enlightening-educational activity and the literary work of I. P. Kotlyarevsky in modern conditions are outlined: grant of priority meaning to national education; use of literary work of I. P. Kotlyarevsky with the purpose of strengthening of educator influence on children at the study of national cultural traditions; distribution of I. P. Kotlyarevsky experience in relation to the usage of theatrical groups for organization of educational work with children; determination of convenience of explanation of the basic pedagogical principles, methods and receptions of education, which was used by I. P. Kotlyarevsky during organization of educational work; application of the experience of the scientifically-ethnographic researches of the pedagogue in practice of extracurricular work with children; bringing youth to the study of the Ukrainian ceremonies, realization of national folk holidays, festivals; strengthening of attention during organization of educational work with children to the basic divisions of the Ethnopedagogics: folk Didactics, children research, theory of upbringing, in particular - moral, labour, aesthetic its components, Deontology and others.
