Essay

The thesis grounded theoretical principles of school holiday problem in the structure of the educational process. Refined essence of the concepts of "holiday", and "school holiday". Developed a periodization of holiday development in the history of school and pedagogical thought of Ukraine in the second half of the XIX century - 20-ies of the XX century. The first period - the second half of the XIX century - 1917 - school holiday in the imperial time facilitated upbringing of pupils on religions and monarchial, moral principles. II - 1917-1920-s - school holiday in the period of UPDR helped upbringing of pupils on national, humanistic, labor basis. III period - 20-ies of the XX century - school holiday of early soviet period promoted upbringing of pupils on national and international, labor principles. Extracted and analyzed factors (social, political, socio-economic, cultural, educational) that affected the organization and content of school holidays in Ukraine in the above mentioned period. Highlighted the contribution of famous pedagogues and public figures in the development of theoretical foundations of the school holiday in the period under review. Defined and characterized pedagogical foundations (types and forms, the purpose, content aspects, peculiarities of organization and method) of carrying out of a holiday in different secondary educational establishments of the examining period. Generalized the experience (positive and negative) of holidays in the secondary school in the outlined period. That allowed us to make a celebration model for the creative use in the practice of modern upbringing.
